The current creative and “Christian” economies are broke, broken and seem deliberately designed to break spirits. Both demand endless unpaid labor while squeezing artists in ways that leave little room for the exercise, much less enjoyment of their gifts.
Drapetomanic Ministry exists to return artists to themselves.
We are a capitALT arts ministry and musical theatre incubator. We don’t ask for grants, we don’t rely on corporate patrons, and we don’t cross our fingers hoping the box office covers our rent. Instead, we use an honest, fully transparent economic engine to fund original artistic creation, compensate space-holders fairly, and build long-term, community-owned real estate.
In other words – we Church.
How It Works
This isn't a traditional school, and it isn't unpaid community theatre. It is a shared ecosystem built on clear, reciprocal value.
1. ENROLL
Currents pay tuition for a 12-week musical theatre intensive cycle (3 hours every Sunday).
2. CREATING & REHEARSING
Receive practical vocal, spiritual, and theatrical instruction while staging an original musical.
3. SHOWCASE & SHARE
Perform the final showcase. Each Current receives 10 tickets to sell at any price, keeping 100% of proceeds.
